In her Feb 2014 Essay Submitted to the Kids Korps USA 2014 “Biggest Little Hearts Essay Contest,” AOMS 7th grade Kids Korps Member, Sophie Zane, shared what Kids Korps has meant to her:
Philanthropy: A word that had embedded itself into my life at an early age and has developed my sense of compassion and understanding towards others. By our affiliation with Kids Korps USA, some projects amaze me by showing me how much of an impact a family of four can have on a whole spectrum of our community…. Details: Kids Korps members will form an assembly line to make sandwiches and fill lunch sacks that will be distributed to the homeless shelter. Volunteers will also help us brainstorm for future projects.
Joani Wafer received all of the heart-felt get well cards that we made and wrote back to thank us. Please read her letter below…
“A huge thanks to all of you for making my day a happy one! I was so pleased when I read all your cards…they were all so creative….and the nice messages you sent with your cards were much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to make me a card. I felt better right away as I was reading them. I am back at home now, resting and on my way back to recovery.
Keep up the good work with Kids Korps. You are all special, devoting your time to helping others. You are making a big difference in your community with your dedication and acts of kindness. I am proud of you all.”
